2. Legends of Elysium Overview (Game Concept)
2.1 Gameplay
Legends of Elysium is a web-based fantasy card and board game set in a fantasy world. It is a Free-To-Play entertaining production, in which players compete with each other in epic battles to win their share of the treasury. Players build their own custom decks and develop well-thought-out strategies to outsmart their opponent and gain advantage on the battle board. Different races and classes with unique skills allow players to create a hero that best suits their playstyle and strategy. Winning a battle allows players to gain more experience necessary to advance their heroes to a higher level and, as a result, getting access to new skills, better rewards and more money!
The „Play-And-Earn” model has provided us with the introduction of several attractive gameplay modes adapted to the time needs of each player, at every level of advancement in the game.
League
League is a multiplayer mode and the main source of rewards for players. It is a ranked match, where players get points for winning the battle and as a result advance to higher levels of the league. However, defeat in a battle results in a player losing points from the ranking and dropping to a lower position in the league. At the end of the week, the best players will share the prize pool amongst themselves.
Friendly Duel will be available as a game mode in which players can challenge their friends for a battle. Winning battles do not count for daily quests, do not grant any experience, ranking points or other bonuses.
Each player starts the week with 1000 ranking points. They receive ranking points for winning battles and thus increase their ranking, while they lose ranking points for lost battles. Depending on the outcome of the battle and the remaining life of the winning hero, a player may gain or lose ranking points as shown in the table below.
Example 1:
Player 1 wins and has 100% HP left:
Player 1 receives 200 ranking points
Player 2 loses 200 ranking points
Example 2:
Player 1 won and has 35% HP left:
Player 1 receives 100 ranking points
Player 2 loses 100 rating points
Adventure
Adventure is a single player mode that allows players to explore the newest boards containing new races and classes. It is designed to prepare players for new cards and to develop the best possible skills during boss fights. AI implemented into Adventure mode will identify weak spots of the player and train them during the battles to improve their skills. With the acquired skills, players will gain an advantage in the other game modes. In addition to the expanded storyline and a chance to get accustomed with new content, the purchase of Adventure will give players unique cards available only through completing Adventure. New cards obtained during Adventure can be used in other game modes in players’ decks.
Tutorials will be a foretaste of real Adventures!
Tournaments
Tournament is a competitive game mode that will be held in a form of recurring eSports events with commentators and sponsors. There will be different types of tournament systems introduced in the game. To participate in the event, players will have to pay or win an entry Ticket. The top players will be eligible to win grand prizes in each tournament.
Registration for the tournament will be possible by buying a Ticket. Tickets will be available in the form of NFT (limit 1/player). In case of a limited number of seats, tickets for the tournament will be drawn in a lottery, in accordance to specific terms and conditions.
The organisers may choose to allocate special tickets granting entry to the tournament based on criteria other than random draw. Special tickets may be awarded by the organisers manually or automatically by setting appropriate modifiable criteria.
Battlefield
Battlefield is a competitive game mode, in which players can pay an entry fee to instantly participate in a tournament-style battle. Players compete with decks built through a draft method, described in the tournament section, for a chance to win the rewards. Each player can compete in the Battlefield until they lose 2 lives or defeat all opponents. Battlefield can be considered a foretaste of the real Tournament.
Guild Wars
Being aware of the growing communities of players united under the banners of gaming guilds, Legends of Elysium introduces Guild Ready Ecosystem, where both Guilds and their members can thrive and benefit from this feature.
Implementation of Guild Wars will enable multiple additional features, bringing the competitive edge between communities. Guilds will fight for the glory and additional rewards from the Treasury based on their position in ranking. Cards deposited into the Guild Vault will bring additional revenue to their owners and will be available to borrow for free by other guild members.
2.2 Heroes
To participate in the game, players have to create a hero to represent them. Players can choose the race and class of the hero to meet their own playstyle. A player can have many heroes under one account, but the maximum level of each hero is 50. Heroes with higher levels have more HP on the battlefield, provide more experience and more income.
At the first stage of the game there will be three races available to choose from: Human, Orc, Dark Elf. Each race gives a special passive skill related to a particular type of cards and the strength of this passive skill increases with hero level.
- Human: at the end of each Nth-turn, gives +1/+1 to a random Farmland unit on the battleground.
- Orc: at the end of each Nth-turn, gives +1/+1 to a random Mountain unit on the battleground.
- Dark Elf: at the end of each Nth-turn, gives +1/+1 to a random Forest unit on the battleground.
The bonus related to the race of the hero activates when the hero reaches level 6 and time to activate it decreases as the level increases. Bonuses gained by the hero depending on his level are as follows:
Heroes of each race can choose one of the classes. Classes give special passive skills unrelated to units.
- Warrior: starts the battle with +5 HP
- Archer: places additional Land in the first turn
- Mage: starts the battle with 1 random spell card
Each hero that advances to level 2 can be minted as an NFT and become fully transferable. To upgrade the level of a Hero, you must use them in a battle to gain enough experience.
Heroes Experience
Newly created heroes start the game with level one. Amount of experience needed for lvl-up increases with level. Amount of XP needed for the next level is calculated as follows:
Required XP = lvl multiplayer * hero lvl + past required XP
Example 1: 105 = 19 * 3 + 48
Hero who has level 3 needs to get 105 XP to advance to level 4.
The amount of experience players gain after each battle varies depending on the outcome of the battle and the level and class of their hero. The base amount of experience a player gains after winning a battle is 10 XP. Depending on the HP of the battle’s winner, the following conversion factors are applied.
The conversion rate for the hero’s level and class should also be multiplied by the above conversion rates. The formula for calculating experience gained after the battle is as follows:
Gained XP = 10 XP * battle result * hero lvl * XP boost
The result is rounded down to a whole number.
Example:
Player 1 has lvl 24 and 25% XP boost. Player 2 has lvl 24 and no XP boost.
Player 1 has lost, but the opponent has less than 5% life left.
Player 1 gains 210 XP:
210 XP = 10 XP * 0.7 * 24 * 1.25 (because of 25% XP boost)
Player 2 gains 240 XP:
240 XP = 10 XP * 1 * 24 * 1
2.3 Cards
Cards are the basic element of the Legends of Elysium game. Cards can be classified into three main types: units, spells, and items. Units can be deployed on the game board; spells can be casted during the battle and items can equip the hero. To play the cards, players must meet the requirements of the card such as MANA cost or LAND type and cost. Different Land types can be built during players’ turn on available hexes.
Cards are divided by the frequency of their occurrence:
To ensure true ownership of in-game assets by the player, we decided to give everyone a choice whether to mint cards or not, depending on the player’s strategy. Traditional gamers need time and education about the technology and additional benefits going from it. This approach provides frictionless ability to attract users from both crypto and traditional gaming. Players can do multiple things with cards that have been minted, such as:
- Using them as part of their strategy and part of their deck in the game
- Selling them in the marketplace
- Staking them and receiving rewards
- Burning them to receive the dust required to craft new cards
- Depositing them into the Guild Vault
Cards can be received by opening Standard, Enchanted or Divine Packs, completing quests, playing in Adventures mode and in several other ways.
Deck
Players will be able to build their own custom decks from the cards they own. Each deck will consist of 24 cards and must follow general rules of deck building introduced in Legends of Elysium. New players will gain access to basic decks pre-built by our team and available for free and get all the cards included in them. Players can receive new cards by completing in-game quests, and Adventures, crafting in the collection, buying them in the marketplace, as well as by opening obtained card packs.
Packs
Card Packs are items containing random cards. Players can open obtained card packs to acquire new cards. There are 3 types of card packs available in the game: Standard, Enchanted and Divine.
Standard Packs can be acquired by winning in Battlefield modes, completing quests, buying them in the Store and in several other ways. Each Standard Pack contains 5 cards. In this pack the chance to draw a card is as follows.
Enchanted packs are limited to 5000 packs per each released race. Each Enchanted pack gives a chance for 1 Rare card or better and 4 random cards with chances as in Standard packs.
Divine packs are limited to 500 packs per each released race. Each Divine pack gives a chance for 1 Epic card or better and 4 random cards with chances as in Standard packs.
2.4 Elytronite
According to the legends passed for generations among the races inhabiting Elysium, Elytronite is a magical crystal sent from the sky by the gods. It is said to possess powerful energy and is believed to bring good luck and prosperity to those who obtained it. Within the game ecosystem, Elytronite is used as a soft in-game currency and to reward free-to-play users for their activity and provide a healthy game economy. It is a highly sought-after commodity and is greatly valued by players.
Elytronite cannot be purchased in the Store, it can only be obtained in-game for actions such as Daily Login, completing Daily and Monthly Quests, or completing specific Achievements. Players can use Elytronite to purchase assets available in the Store such as Standard Packs, additional deck slots, Adventure campaigns and other assets, increase hero level and other features.
2.5 Boards
The Boards are the battlegrounds where the match takes place. Opponents are located opposite each other on board with hex fields. This will create the additional element of strategy from classic card game productions.
Each Board will have a different shape or elements that occur on it. New boards will be added periodically as the progress of game development continues. The main objective of the battle is to defeat your opponent. Each turn players will draw a random card from the top of their decks and terraform adjacent to their lands or units hex into a Land of their choosing. Unit cards can be played only on lands built by the player, unless specified otherwise on the card itself. Units deployed on the board can move only through unoccupied hexes terraformed by either of the players, one hex at a time. Fight between units can happen only, if they are standing on adjacent Lands, unless the unit’s special ability states otherwise. Strategic element is the vital point of Legends of Elysium. With a combination of random elements during the battle, such as drawing cards from the deck, each game will be a new challenging and exciting experience for players.
Each board will have a different appearance and may contain different mines and special fields, but each board is based on the same template made of hexagonal fields. Boards were designed to be easily modifiable through the database. Example of the board is presented below:
Boards can be modified in the database by:
- disabling specific hexes
- setting up special abilities on specific hexes
- choosing the hex, where the hero will be based
There may be special fields on the board, which give blessings to the player controlling them at the start of his turn. Each special field can have different ability, such as:
- gives extra MANA per turn to the player who controls it
- heals a unit controlling this specific field
- gives an additional card per turn
- deals damage to a random opponent unit
- lowers the cost of a random card in players hand
- increases a unit’s attack
- increases the maximum health of a unit
In addition to special fields, one time bonuses are also available on the boards. Upon entering such a field by the unit, the active player receives the blessing associated with the given bonus. One time bonuses give various bonuses such as:
- gives extra MANA
- increases life of a unit
- gives an extra card
- increases attack of a unit
- lowers the MANA cost of a random card in players hand
Lands where the player’s units can be placed are determined by the type of the empty land of the active player on the game board.
Example:
A forest unit can only be placed on an empty forest hex controlled by an active player.
Mines
Mines are special elements of the boards that give players various passive bonuses. Each board may have up to 3 mines assigned to them, and different boards may have mines providing different bonuses.
Activating the mines requires a player to bond his tokens with the mines of his choosing. The strength of the bonuses received from a mine, depend on the number of tokens bond with that particular mine. The amount of tokens allowed to be bonded with each mine is limited per player. Tokens locked in the mines can be unbond by a player at any given time, following the unbonding rules.
Players can bond tokens with a maximum 2 out of 3 mines available on the board.
Boards Validators
Boards Validators are the players who through their commitment gained the chance to purchase an NFT representation of a game board, and upon its purchase were rewarded with equivalent of a premium account. This kind of premium account is temporary and expires over time.
Board Validators are the players who own the board and, as a result, earn additional rewards such as automatic whitelist spot for all actions (excl next Boards), extra daily Elytronite, daily LOE tokens from a designated part of the game treasury and other in-game benefits. New boards will be limited and available to purchase periodically in the form of NFTs by the members of our community who contributed the most to the game ecosystem.
Rewards generated by the boards depend on their levels. Once a new board is released it has level 2. Every time a new board is released, levels of all the existing boards will be decreased by 1, until the minimum level of 0. Boards which have level 0 will not earn any rewards for their owners.
Example 1:
In the beginning, there is one existing board in the game called Genesis Board. By default, it has level 2, and players who own it get a share of daily rewards.
After 3 months, a new board called Deathland Board was released. That means, the Genesis Board will have its level decreased by 1 and will now have level 1. At the same time, the newly released Deathland Board will be level 2.
If a player owns both Genesis Board and Deathland Board, they will benefit from both boards separately.
2.6 Marketplace & NFTs
Marketplace is a feature allowing players to view and buy cards put up for sale by other players, as well as put up their own cards for sale. Under the Marketplace, there will be additional features, such as Stake and Borrow NFTs.
Stake & Borrow NFTs
The NFT cards will be available for staking by the card owners. Each card’s value will be determined, and based on the determined value, its owners will earn staking rewards. Withdrawing cards from staking is subject to a 7-day unlocking period. During that time rewards are not distributed. After that period, the cards are available to be claimed. Cards that are staked, cannot be used in the players decks.
NFT Cards that are staked, will be available to rent by other players. Each card will have a rental price assigned to it, based on the determined card value. Renting a card from the available ones allows the player to use it in his deck temporarily, until the renting period is over.
